Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Church at Cabo Frio

Now to him who is able to do immeasurable more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is work within us, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
Ephesians 3:20

Dear Friends,

Merry Christmas from Brazil! We love this time of year as we celebrate the birth of our Savior! We have had a blessed 2011. God's presence has been so real! We have seen God move mountains, protect, restore, empower and give new life! In a nation of many false gods, idolatry and witchcraft we see His Light penetrating the darkness. We have experienced His amazing grace, joy and new mercies each day. We are grateful and humbled for the privilege of being His servants. We close this year with gratitude to God and to you for another year that this ministry has been supported through your prayers and sacrificial gifts. You truly make this ministry possible. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! May 2012 be another fruitful year for all of us. (Click on the "Pix Gallery" button  at left to see new photos of the Ministry)

For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the Lord made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before Him; strength and glory are in His sanctuary. (Psalm 96:4-5)

One more Testimony hot off the press -  Some months ago a woman visited our church. Before the service I met her and she began to cry. I could see there was deep pain in her life, confusion and no hope. We met that following week to talk and during our conversation she received the Lord as her Savior. She also shared with me about the man she was living with (the father of her children) who drinks and becomes very aggressive. We prayed and asked God for His intervention and wisdom. I also encouraged her to start reading the Bible which she began to devour! A few weeks ago she told me that God spoke to her through His Word telling her that she could not continue living with this man she was not married to. She decided to take her kids and move in with her sister. She explained to her husband that he needed to go to Celebrate Recovery and they needed to marry if they were going to live as a couple. He did not like the situation but she remained firm, moved out and continued to pray. This Sunday she was in church with her whole family (her husband met her at church) and her teenage daughter accepted Jesus as her Savior! Her husband asked me to pray for him and said he would begin Celebrate Recovery this week. He also mentioned he was considering marriage! God is at work! (Be sure to see the other testomonies at left)
Land update - I would like to share a financial need facing us. As you know we are trying to purchase the lot next to our church in Niterói. It is to enlarge our ministries to reach out to our community with the Good News of Jesus Christ. It is a BLESSING to see all ages already using it with organized arts & crafts, soccer, ping-pong, etc.. The price of the land is $112,000.00 dollars and we have raised $66,000.00.  We still need the amount of $46,000. If you would like to help us invest in this land purchase, your financial gifts would be greatly appreciated.

Seeker's Class - Everyone who recently participated in our "Seekers" Bible study, received Jesus as their Savior! Seven new believers will be baptized this month! Praise God!
Reaching students -
Many of the high-school students who attend public schools have not been adequately prepared for college entrance exams. Many of our members who are Christian teachers, university professors and other professionals organized and volunteered their skills with tutorials on Saturdays for the last few months. These students were blessed with the 'cream of the crop' instructors and most importantly were introduced to Jesus, the master teacher!
From the AP news -
"Booming commodity prices fueled by Chinese demand, along with some of the world's biggest offshore oil discoveries, have created an expanding, new class of wealthy Brazilians. The number of millionaire households in South America's biggest nation is forecast to more than triple by 2020."  Pray that we are able to reach all classes of Brazilians in 2012 with the powerful Gospel message.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good…Psalm 107:1

"Go and make disciples"- Personal discipling is one of our best ways to help a believer grow in the Lord. I had been praying for God to show me who might be the next ones I was to invest in. Within the next month three people asked if I could disciple them. It is a blessing, I meet with them individually once a week and it is so exciting to see how God is transforming their lives. I also just finished leading another workshop to train mature believers in how to disciple.
Vacation Bible School -
With the wonderful help from a team from Houston's First Baptist Church we were able to minister to 300 kids in July. Most of the children live in the slums with a really bad home life. It was such a joy to see them each day so happy and interested in the things of God. We had Bible stories, crafts, games, sports and a dance workshop. On the first day of VBS there was a gun battle in the slums between the drug lords. We were so thankful none of these children were injured returning to their homes.
Making His name known -
Over the last few months we have had quite the range of activities to reach our city for Christ. Some of these events included a luau on the beach, dinners for couples, barbecue, soccer tournament, a teen night, evangelism at the cemetery on the Day of the Dead, evangelism door to door on the lagoon, a prayer walk in our city and handing out blankets to those that sleep in the streets.
Girls Only -
For our young ladies we had a very successful mini-retreat. The theme was: "God Satisfies". We talked to them about the importance of staying pure and issues that affect girls. The church was decorated in pink and the girls were delighted with their devotional books they received, wonderful meals, a table of goodies including beautifully decorated cupcakes to munch on throughout the night, a midnight swim in the pool and most importantly activities that brought their hearts closer to God. Three of the ladies accepted the Lord and many others rededicated their lives.

Wedding Bells - Recently we had two more weddings in our church. These couples met through small group Bible studies! One of the couples that I married are our youth pastors! Another wedding is on the calendar for April.
International Children's Day -
On this day we were invited once again to do a program at a nearby public school for 250 students and teachers. Our team of 20 presented songs, gifts and the "fish and loaves" Bible story. Around 40 children received Jesus as their Lord and Savior! It was also great to have some of our preteens from our church serving with us! They are quite the helpers! The principal asked us when we come next time to speak to the afternoon group too! That will be 500 kids we can share Christ with!
For unto us a child a Child is born! -
As the Christmas season approaches we are preparing a number of evangelistic projects to share the true message of Christmas. We will have a large Christmas dinner, a number of parties and teams evangelizing at shopping center parking lots throughout the city again this year! Pray for lives to be saved!
Joe update - Our rescued dog that is blind must be about 8. He is still so sweet and draws attention wherever he goes. Too bad he can't talk he would be a great evangelist! His heart's delight is a bone imported from Houston! Ha! Ha! FYI he has a page on Facebook (Click)

For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.
To Him be the glory forever! Amen.    Romans 11:36
