Land update - We would like to share a financial need facing us. As you know we are trying to purchase the lot next to our church in Niterói. It is to enlarge our ministries to reach out to our community with the Good News of Jesus Christ. It is a BLESSING to see all ages already using it with organized arts & crafts, soccer, ping-pong, etc.. The price of the land is $112,000.00 dollars and we have raised $66,000.00.  We still need the amount of $46,000. If you would like to help us invest in this land purchase, your financial gifts would be greatly appreciated. (We've already cleared the land and have begun to use it (pictures below)!
 

Why is it so important to reach Brazilwith the
Good News of Jesus Christ?

  • The world will be brought to Brazil when it hosts the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympics in 2016.
     
  • Brazil announced in March it has become the world’s seventh economy (and could surpass France & UK) the strongest in 24 years. It is the world’s largest exporter of ethanol and second largest producer, and is the world’s largest exporter of orange juice and a major exporter of beef and poultry. Now Brazil has one of the strongest currencies in the world and most dynamic emerging market economies. In the last decade, Brazil has seen more than 30 million people raised into the middle class. Although we minister to all classes, it is clear why God directed our ministry 15 years ago toward the middle and upper class, who had been overlooked.
     
  • Brazilian society is largely young people. Nearly 42 percent of the population is under 15 years old, and another 27% is between 15 and 30. We have found that youth are more receptive to the gospel. This is an area that is ripe for ministry, so it is one of our top priorities.
     
  • Portuguese is the sixth-most spoken language in the world (200,000,000 worldwide). Brazil and Portugal are the two primary Portuguese speaking nations but it is also widely used in Mozambique, Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé, Goa, India, Príncipe, and over half a million in China (Macau).
     

  • CNN compiled a list of the hippest peoples on the planet. With 250 possible candidates Brazilians were named as the “coolest people on the planet”.
